Ft Tiggs Da Author
let's talk about Tiggs Da Author, the artist behind some of the greatest features in British rap.
Tiggs Da Author has been one of my favourite artists from the Uk for a while, when you see. ‘ft Tiggs Da Author’ you already know the song is going to be hard and he is going to make sure that feature carries the song.
Tiggs Da Author who got his name from Winnie the Pooh (Tiggs) and his dream to be an author (Da Author), is featured in some of the greatest rap songs in the Uk, a lot of them being with another one of my favourite artists, Nines. Some examples are ‘Yay’, ‘NIC’ and ‘Oh My’ that also features SL and Young Fume. Tiggs is extremely versatile with his music, and I saw this when I attended his sold-out headline show at the jazz café in Camden back in March 2023. For example, listen to his song ‘Thank you’ and then listen to ‘Gorilla’ a song of Rimzees he features on. Going back to talking about his headline show, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like it, from the live band to the outfit changes and lastly, I was watching him perform less than a meter away from me. You can really see the passion he has for music and the love he has for his supporters, and I am sure that anyone that went to that show felt it too.
If listening to Tiggs’ music doesn’t show you his versatility let’s talk about the tv shows, games and movies that his music has been featured in, let’s start with ‘Gangsteritus’ with Potter Payper and ‘Fly Em’High’ featuring in THE Top Boy which if you don’t know (get to know) is a legendary Uk tv show. Then he featured in FIFA 16 with ‘Work it out’ and ‘Run’ with iconic Lady Leshurr, and ‘Run’ also featured in ‘Bridget Jones’s baby’. This man is capable of it all.
My first memories of Tiggs’ music are from when I was younger, walking to school, listening to ‘yay’. I had no idea what yay was at the time, but the song made me feel something and that’s why I liked it. I recently discussed this with one of my friends, we spoke about how ‘yay’ was a deep song to me growing up in my teenage years, but I had no clue what they we’re rapping about up until I was a little bit older.
It just shows that Nines and Tiggs delivered this song very well and told a story. Now that I am older, I listen to ‘yay’ and I understand that this is a sad yet beautiful song that tells a story about a young girl who grew up rough who is struggling and giving up her dreams while getting addicted to cocaine and wanting to please the crowd, and I did relate slightly to this story when I was younger, especially when nines raps “She used to have big dreams, but gave it up by the time she turned 16”. It also amazes me how Tiggs Da Author is singing so beautifully about a young girl falling in love with cocaine, this song is a masterpiece and seeing it live healed younger Bea a little.
Throughout the years my love for Nines started to grow, but if you listen to Nines, then you’ve heard of Tiggs because the two make a lot of beautiful music together, even when Nines just dropped his most recent and last project, people were shocked that there was no Tiggs feature. I then saw Tiggs perform twice alongside Nines and Potter Payper at 2022s wireless and less than a year later he announced his own headline show and I knew I had to go, after that I started listening and appreciating his music more, seeing the passion he had performing his beautiful songs.
I think everyone should be giving Tiggy his flowers, he makes music for everyone and you can really see the passion he has for music and writing and inshallah one day he becomes da author he has always wanted to be.
🤲
been waiting for people to see his talent🤞🏽
